I stayed at Sylvia Hotel & Resort Komodo Labuan Bajo after returning from a road trip from Kupang - Ende - Labuan Bajo. It was a weekend, and since I booked it last minute, the price was quite high, almost double the normal rate. Plus, it was a long weekend. My friends and I decided to stay at this hotel because we wanted to enjoy the sunrise at Sylvia Hill Labuan Bajo.
Upon check-in, there was a spacious gazebo in front of the hotel lobby, with an open area. While waiting for the room to be ready, guests could wait here and enjoy the view of the open sea at Waecicu Beach, which is owned by Sylvia Hotel & Resort Komodo Labuan Bajo.
Unfortunately, when I checked in in the afternoon, I didn't have time to explore the beach because I was tired from traveling a long way from Ende to Labuan Bajo since early morning.
The first impression I got was that this was an old hotel, but it was indeed beautiful because you could see the beach directly from the lobby and the rooms. The building and facilities weren't new, but they still looked modern and minimalist. From the lobby floor, to get to the rooms, I had to use the stairs, as the hotel was only one story. In the end, I had to carry my belongings up the stairs.
Upon entering the room, the atmosphere was indeed vintage looking and felt cozy. The facilities are standard for a 3 star hotel, but if you get a room with a balcony and a view of the beach, you will enjoy a very beautiful view from your room. You can see the open sea from your room, which is very beautiful in the afternoon, and watch the sunset from the balcony of your room.
In the afternoon, guests can stroll around and walk along Waecicu Beach, which is within the hotel’s vicinity. You can also swim in the pool while enjoying the beach view. We took a quick look around. The air was extremely hot, and the intense beach heat left me feeling exhausted, even in the afternoon.
That night, exhausted, I went straight to bed after cleaning up. At the same time, I prepared myself for trekking to Sylvia Hill in the morning. My best friend and I planned to leave at 3:00 a.m. to capture the Milky Way.
Enjoying The Sylvia Hill
Due to our exhaustion, we didn't wake up until 3:00 a.m., so we ended up leaving at 3:30 a.m. and hurried along, afraid we wouldn't catch the Milky Way. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to see the Milky Way and, of course, the beautiful sunrise in the morning. So tired, while my friend was taking various sunrise photos, I ended up sleeping on the hill’s grass, feeling very comfortable and cool.
When we arrived, there was no one else there, but as the sun began to rise around 5 a.m., tourists wanting to watch the sunset started to arrive. It’s certain that all of them were staying at Sylvia Resort Komodo, as only guests staying at this hotel have access to Sylvia Hill in Labuan Bajo.
Breakfast in font of Weicacu Beach
After returning from Sylvia Hill Labuan Bajo, we continued with breakfast at a restaurant located right on the shore of Weicacu Beach. It was beautiful, enjoying breakfast while taking in the very calm beach, without waves. In fact, on the shore, there were many foreign tourists who finished eating and immediately went swimming in the sea.
So Sylvia Hotel & Resort Komodo Labuan Bajo is suitable for travelers looking for comfortable accommodation, located in a strategic beach location, with relatively affordable prices and complete facilities. Suitable for couples, families, and solo travelers.
