You can try various exciting activities with friends to unwind from your daily activities. Including one of them is trekking. And if you don't have much time, you can take a one-day trip to Gunung Batu Jonggol Bogor, which is located in Jonggol, Sukaharja Village, Sukamakmur District, Bogor Regency.
This mountain can be an alternative for those who want to breathe fresh air and smell the typical high-altitude trees but don't have much time because the distance is quite close to Jakarta.
Visiting this mountain can be done on a round-trip on the same day. You can see this mountain during the dry season for a beautiful and clear view. I visited the mountain in January during the rainy season, so the weather was cloudy, and I got rained on.
How to Get There
Many people have recently talked about Mount Batu Jonggol Bogor, which looks more like a cliff or hill. The normal distance is only 2-3 hours from Jakarta, at an altitude of about 875 meters above sea level.
But don't underestimate it, either. The road to this mountain is dirt. So if you visit in the rainy season, the road will be very slippery and sloping. Then, the road to the top, in the form of steep rocks, makes you have to fight a little harder to get to the top of this mountain.
But don't worry, this mountain is relatively safe for beginners, as long as friends carefully prepare like other mountains.
I departed with friends from Jakarta to save time. Since there is no public transportation to this mountain, it is safer to go by motorbike. Moreover, this is only a one-day trip.
From Jakarta, we departed at 08.00 WIB in conditions that had begun to rain. Along the way, we passed through winding roads, damaged roads with holes, and many roads that were still dirt, making us have to drive slowly.
One friend's motorcycle had a puncture, so we stopped to wait for our friend to patch the tire. We also passed through forests, deserted roads, and several houses owned by residents around Gunung Batu Jonggol Bogor.
Entrance Fee
Arriving at the last village before the mountain, it was almost 12.00 WIB. We went straight to the parking area managed by local residents to store our vehicles. We paid IDR 15,000, including the entrance fee. This parking lot is open 24 hours a day.
Our stomachs had begun to scavenge for hunger, so we decided to eat first at a stall not far from the parking area before trekking. It was raining quite heavily when we were about to continue our trekking journey. Finally, we returned to sit sweetly, waiting for the rain to subside.
Mount Batu Jonggol Trekking Experience
At around 1:00 p.m., the drizzle still greeted us. Armed with raincoats, we decided to continue trekking to this beautiful mountain. This is how it is when you walk with mountain masters, rain is no longer an obstacle.
It takes about ten minutes to walk from the parking area to the main trekking entrance. From the entrance, the ground was already slippery because it had just rained, so we had to walk slowly to climb Mount Batu Jonggol Bogor.
In about an hour, we were almost at the top, so climbing this mountain can be a one-day trip. The route to the top is made of sloping stones, which must be climbed slowly and using ropes that are already available in this place.
We had to take turns climbing to the top. The rain-soaked rope was slippery, and the fog was getting thicker, making the journey difficult.
Slowly but surely, we reached the top of Mount Batu Jonggol Bogor, and the weather began to be friendly even though it was briefly bright and briefly dark. Finally, we could enjoy a great scene a verdant natural landscape.
The summit area was narrow. Fortunately, there were only us and a few people at that time. We could take some photos even though we had to wait for the sky to be friendly.
When we were about to go down, there was a storm, so we had to take shelter on the edge of the rocks. As the afternoon wore on, the air got colder and colder, so we had to speed up our descent despite the slippery and steep road conditions.
When we arrived at the parking lot, the fog was getting thicker. We quickly packed up to return to Jakarta so we wouldn't get caught in the rain again. Given that we still had a long way to go. But the fatigue paid off because we had time to enjoy the green natural scenery from the top of this mountain.
