20+ Tips Safe Hotel For Solo Female Traveler (Part 2)

11. Check room conditions

Have you ever read the news about a mirror that looks like a mirror but is actually an access door to the next room or even connects to CCTV cameras? Well, one safe tip for choosing a hotel when travelling solo is to check the condition of your room. What are they?

    • Check the condition of the door. Is it locked? If not, check whether the latch works well. If not, immediately ask to move rooms.
    • If I am staying alone, I will usually choose a hotel room with a telephone line so that I can easily contact the receptionist if I need to.
    • Make sure that there are no suspicious items, such as CCTV or hidden cameras, in every corner of the room. I usually check in the bathroom, behind the TV, in the closet, and at the door.
    • Also, make sure our beds are safe. Have you ever seen a murder recording that turns out the body is stored in the mattress, right?
    • Make sure the next room cannot access the balcony of our  room if possible, make sure to lock the balcony door of our room. This has been experienced, that the next room can enter the balcony of my room and if the balcony is not locked, it is dangerous, right?

12. Keep contact with your family or beloved person

Now that you know where to stay, tell your closest family or friends that you are staying at that location. This is very important for your safety. Again, for our safety, in case of lost contact, they know where our last location is and share the location when we arrive at the hotel.

13. Don't upload the hotel name & location on social media

Undeniably, our social media friends are not only from the circles we know, but our followers are also not people we know.

Now, this is very important. When staying overnight, we don't think there will be anyone checking up on us anywhere. Our people's intentions don't always match up, so never share the location and name of the hotel you are staying at on social media for your safety.

Suppose you want to upload it, just after checking out. This is included in the safe tips for choosing a hotel when solo travelling must be done, guys.

14. Mind your belongings

If the receptionist can't be reached, contacting people nearby is more straightforward if anything happens. Put all your belongings in one bag, so if you have to leave for safety reasons, such as a force majeure or something else, you can grab it and get out.

15. Don't get provoked by noises

If you hear a noise near your room, don't immediately go out to reprimand it. Tell the receptionist to help reprimand it. Why? Because there are various modes of crime nowadays. They might deliberately make noise to lure you out and know you're alone in your room.

I experienced it at night in a hotel. They were very noisy and apparently just came home drunk. Fortunately, I haven't had time to leave the room, so I would usually call the receptionist to help reprimand them.

16. Don't open the door carelessly

When someone knocks on your room, please don't open it immediately. First, look behind the door to see who is coming. Once, someone knocked on my room many times, and I never opened it if I didn't have an appointment with someone else. Because the officer will only come if we call him, so be suspicious if someone knocks on the door. Especially so many times and not making a sound. If they say it's the concierge, but you don't feel like calling them, call the front desk first.

17. Don't accept guests in the room

Now avoid receiving guests in the room, guys, unless it's people you know well and are sure you will be safe. Do it only in the lobby or outside, for example, in a hotel restaurant and ensure conditions are crowded. I still consider this because we don't know if people turn good and evil in seconds.

18. Always dress modestly even in the room

This is also important, guys, to avoid when there is a force major that requires us to leave the room quickly, just in case an officer comes to the room to deliver our order.

19. Don't trust easily

If your next-door neighbour asks for help, you better tell the receptionist. Especially when you're travelling in a foreign place. Not to teach antipathy but to be more careful. Have you ever heard of someone asking for help, and it turns out that he was the one who was accused? Well, this is what I mean. So be wise..

20. Provide chili spray

It sounds classic, but I always take this everywhere for safety, just in case I don't only take it when I'm in the hotel but when travelling too, hehe.
