MOGENS GUEST HOUSE, A COZY HOTEL NEAR BANDUNG STATION

In addition to hotels, Bandung also has many comfortable and affordable guest houses for tourists. This type of accommodation offers a warmer and more homey atmosphere, perfect for those who want to feel like they are staying in their own home. One of the most popular guest houses in Bandung is Mogens Guest House, which is known for its strategic location, complete facilities, and modern interior design.

About Mogens Guest House Bandung

Location

Mogens Guest House is located at Jl. Kebon Sirih No. 26, Kelurahan Babakan Ciamis, Kecamatan Sumur Bandung, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40117. It is very strategically located, only about a 10-minute walk from Bandung KAI Station.

Located in the heart of Bandung, tourists can easily reach the city center, shopping areas, and culinary spots from this guest house. However, if you use public transportation such as a car, it takes about 10-15 minutes because the route is winding. This guest house is suitable for those who want to stay in a city with easy access to various tourist destinations, transportation, and culinary spots.

Room Types and Prices

Mogens Guest House offers a variety of aesthetically pleasing room types.

    • Deluxe Room, the smallest size, is a room with an area of approximately 18 m². Suitable for those traveling alone.
    • Executive King or Twin Room, larger in size, approximately 27 m², with a choice of 1 king bed or 2 twin beds.
    • Family room with 1 single + 1 king bed, accommodates 3 people in one room.

Each room has a different price, depending on the room type, day, season, promotions, and room availability.

Facilities

Mogens Guest House offers a wide range of facilities that are quite complete for a guest house in the city center, such as free WiFi on all floors, free parking for those who bring vehicles, excellent air conditioning, LED TV, mini bar or fridge, safety deposit box, and private bathroom with shower, slippers, a very friendly 24-hour reception, and security throughout the day.

There is also a small garden or green area, and a restaurant designed with modern and aesthetic Scandinavian interiors that are perfect for photos. Each room offers several room packages that include a local breakfast.

My Experience Staying at Mogens Guest House Bandung

I found Mogens Guest House through a hotel booking app. When I first saw the photos, I thought it looked unique and cozy, plus it was close to Bandung train station. After reading the good reviews and seeing that many people had stayed there, I decided to book it. Luckily, rooms were still available.

I used online transportation to get there, as the roads in Bandung are single-lane and often have turns, so it took about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the place. Additionally, the road leading to the guest house is not very wide, so the driver had to drive slowly.

I arrived at this guest house in the late afternoon, just before sunset, so it was already quite dark. As soon as I arrived, I immediately felt comfortable, like I was at home, and the atmosphere was very warm. I am quite picky when it comes to accommodation. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. The hotel or guest house has three floors: the ground floor has the reception and restaurant, while the second and third floors are rooms. The top floor has a balcony.

This guest house has a Scandinavian concept, with a majority of the design featuring white colors and lots of wood in the interior. It provides a comfortable and warm atmosphere, like being at home. When I entered the room, I felt like I was at home. At that time, I got a double bed room because it was last minute, so this type of room, the deluxe room, was available.

The facilities are quite complete for a guest house standard, the AC works well, the bed is comfortable, and other amenities function properly. The bathroom isn't very large but is designed like a home bathroom, so when showering, I personally felt like I was showering at home. The deluxe room is still comfortable for two people.

There’s a mini bar and a table for storing some items. However, I used it for work, and although it’s a bit cramped, it’s still comfortable for working. Unfortunately, the deluxe room doesn’t come with a chair, and coincidentally, there’s a table and chair in front of the room, though they’re not very big. I borrowed the chair for working.

I asked permission from the receptionist first, and it turned out that the receptionist offered me to work in the restaurant area so that I would be more comfortable. Since the restaurant only operates in the morning during breakfast, it is not used at night. I think this is one of the plus points of staying at this hotel, as the offer made me feel that I was being given the best service possible.

Since the Mogens Guest House restaurant was closed at night, I ended up leaving the hotel to look for food. Near the hotel, there were several local eateries such as fruit ice cream, fried rice, and toast. If you want to find more places to eat, you have to walk, but it's not worth it. It's too far to walk, and ordering a vehicle is too close. In the end, I decided to order online because I also had a webinar at 7 p.m.

In the morning, I had breakfast around 8 AM, and it turned out there were only two other guests eating. It seemed like the others had already had breakfast, as evidenced by the significantly reduced menu options. The restaurant’s interior is designed with a Scandinavian concept, so the chairs, tables, and some other items are made of wood.

This room is surrounded by glass on both sides, allowing sunlight to stream in freely, so during breakfast, we can enjoy the warmth of the morning sun in Bandung. The food menu available at that time was local fare, such as fried rice, white rice, rolled eggs, crackers, fruits, and hot drinks like tea and coffee. The food was quite tasty, but the variety was limited, which is standard for a guest house.

After breakfast, only my friend and I remained, so I asked the guest house staff for permission to work in the restaurant room. Unfortunately, as the day progressed, the heat of the sun became more intense, considering that the restaurant room was dominated by glass.

My thoughts

    • Overall, Mogens Guest House was very pleasant and interesting for me. If I go to Bandung again, I would like to try staying in a larger room.
    • The atmosphere is calm, and the guests staying here are not noisy.
    • The guest house is homey, suitable for backpackers, families, and couples.
    • The place is clean.
    • The staff are friendly and available 24 hours.
    • The price is affordable.
    • The interior is aesthetic and Instagrammable with a Scandinavian concept.
    • The location is strategic for going anywhere.
    • The facilities are quite complete, such as air conditioning, WiFi, TV, minibar, and free parking. Unfortunately, the parking area is small, but it is still suitable for a guest house.

However, there are some cons that I have noticed, but so far it is still safe. First, the rooms are not very soundproof against outside noise. Although it is not disturbing. Second, the parking area is narrow for guests who bring cars and arrive late. But for guests who do not bring vehicles, this is not a problem.

So, for those of you who are planning to stay in Bandung and are looking for strategic, comfortable accommodation with a modern design that is still affordable, Mogens Guest House is a very good option to consider.

With its location in the heart of the city, close to the Bandung train station and many tourist attractions and culinary spots, plus facilities that are quite complete for basic needs, Mogens Guest House accommodation can be a great place to start exploring Bandung.
