THE ULLEN SENTALU MUSEUM, RELICS OF THE CULTURE OF THE INDONESIA KINGDOM
If you visit Yogyakarta, you can find many destinations. It is all about nature and culture, including museums. In Yogyakarta, you can find many museums that describe the culture. One of the best museums you can visit in Jogjakarta is the Ullen Sentalu Museum. Have you heard about this museum? Keep reading if you want to know more about this museum and see it.
History The Ullen Sentalu Museum
Ullen Sentalu Museum is a privately owned museum in Yogyakarta. Ullen Sentalu Museum is an abbreviation for Ulating Blencong Sejatine Tataraning Lumaku, which means Blencong Lamp. A lamp used during shadow puppet shows philosophically means human guidance in stepping and walking through life.
The owner, the Haryono Family, is a nobleman and batik maker. Now, the Ullen Sentalu Museum is managed by the Ulating Blencong Foundation. The Ullen Sentalu was established in 1994, and it was officially inaugurated on March 1, 1997, coinciding with the date commemorated yearly as a historical day for Yogyakarta City. The inauguration was done by KGPAA Paku Alam VIII, who was at that time the Governor of Yogyakarta Special Province.
Inside the Ullen Sentalu Museum, the history of the Mataram Kingdom is explained, namely about the four kingdoms in Solo and Yogyakarta, which were divided into Kasunanan Surakarta, Kadipaten, Kesultanan Yogyakarta, and Praja Mangkunegaran.
The objects in the Ullen Sentalu Museum are grants from the kingdoms of Solo and Yogyakarta, such as gamelan, fabrics with various patterns of Yogyakarta and Solo, and writings from the princess of Solo kingdom. All these objects are cultural relics and relics of Javanese nobility during the Mataram Kingdom era.
Visitors will be divided into several groups to do a plant tour because this labyrinth-shaped museum has an area of only 1.2 km2. The museum, which contains the Mataram Kingdom, requires all visitors to be guided by a tour guide familiar with the history of the kingdoms of Yogyakarta and Solo. The tour takes approximately 1 hour.
Guests of all ages visit the Ullen Sentalu Museum, and many foreign tourists also visit this museum. During the plant tour, all guests are invited to a gothic restaurant to enjoy a warm ginger drink as a welcome drink.
This is considered an ageless heritage drink called “Wedang Ratu Mas.” It helped warm the body because it was raining when I visited the Mataram Kingdom museum. While inside the Ullen Sentalu Museum, all visitors are prohibited from recording and taking pictures, so focus on the tour guide and enjoy the museum.
