Here are some unique festivals around the world that will make your trip more exciting.

1. Boryeong Mud Festival, South Korea

The Boryeong Mud Festival, or Mud Bath Festival, was first held in 1998. This festival is usually held at Daecheon Beach, Boryeong City. It is one of the largest summer festivals in the world, regardless of nationality, race, language, and age. This festival will be an experience-type festival that everyone can enjoy together.

At this festival, you can participate in several exciting events, such as running races on mud, making mud soap, mud massage, or painting your body with mud. Or you can skate in the mud to get to the mud pool, which is exciting.

This unique event was initially held as a promotional event for cosmetics from one of the companies whose products are made from mud. But this festival has developed into an exciting tourist attraction for many tourists. Visit South Korea in July every year to witness this festival.

2. Cheese Rolling Race, England

One interesting festival is the Cheese Rolling Race Festival, which dates back 400 years. This festival marks the summer season and celebrates harvest by having competitors compete for 4 kg of cheese on a steep hill. The cheese rolling race is conducted every year, typically at the end of May. The festival is usually held at Cooper's Hill-Gloucestershire. Many young people visit the UK in May every year to witness this festival, which many attend.

3. Carnevale di Venezia, Italy

The next festival in the world is the Carnival of Venezia, which has a lot of history behind it. Nowadays, it is one of the most festive events in the world that attracts many tourists. This masked folk party is held around the canals and features a variety of food and drinks.

Carnival participants will wear masks and costumes according to our wishes. This centuries-old carnival can break the social caste in the country.  Dancers, acrobats, and magicians also enliven this folk party. Visit 2 weeks before Easter to join the carnival or maybe around January - March every year.

4. Dia De Los Muertos, Mexico

This festival welcomes the spirits or commemorates those who have passed away. Families prepare an altar to celebrate their family and decorate it with various kinds of flowers and the deceased's favorite foods and drinks.

The entire city of Mexico will be decorated with various decorations. Citizens will wear clothes similar to Halloween clothes and walk around the city. This unique world event is held every October 31 and January 2.

5. Holi Festival, India

Another, the most unique festival in the world is the Holi festival, which originated in India. Initially, this festival was created to honor the gods, pray for an abundant harvest, and make the soil more fertile. In this festival, also called the Festival of Colour, all participants will throw colorful flour at each other.

The festival begins with lighting the Holika bonfire. Everyone gathers to sing and dance together. The Holi Festival is also called the Festival of Love because, on that day, all citizens forget hatred. The festival attracts many tourists worldwide and lasts one day and one night. It starts on the whole night of the month of Falgun. Or, it is held on March 13 every year.

6. La Tomatina, Spain

The next festival in the world is La Tomatina, which is held in Bunol, Spain. At this festival, tomatoes are thrown at anyone who attends with a note not to hurt. 8. Salto del Colacho, Spain

This is a unique festival event from Spain that I find pretty creepy. At the peak of the event, a man wearing a black costume symbolizing the devil will jump over the babies that have been collected. The babies are under one year old. The baby's parents will then sprinkle roses on their baby. This ritual is believed to absolve the baby's sins.

The festival that originated from this ritual dates back to the 1600s. It is usually held in June every year or 60 days after Easter. Specifically, it will be on Sunday, according to the schedule of the baptism ceremony.

9. Songkran Festival, Thailand

Songkran is a traditional Thai New Year festival. It is a festival of water wars between locals and tourists. It is a form of celebration of the new year in Thailand. And why use water? Water is believed to be a means of cleansing oneself.

Bangkok and Chiang Mai are the most crowded places to celebrate this festival, which is held every April 13-15. This annual festival is believed to remove bad luck in the coming year. Remember, if you are a traveler, never splash water on monks, pregnant women, the elderly, babies, or people who are working. It is also forbidden to splash water indoors.

10. Wakakusa Yamayaki Matsuri, Japan

Another interesting festival is the Wakakusa Yamayaki Matsuri or Mountain Burning Festival. In this unique event, festival participants compete in throwing large crackers, called senbei. After that, the festival participants head to Mount Wakakusa and light a torch at Mizuya Shrine. Only then is the mountain burning festival carried out, followed by a fireworks party.

This unique festival, often called The Mountain Roast, is held every fourth week of January, usually on a Saturday. Visit on that date to witness this unique festival.
